Power factor correction contactors

The contactors for capacitor banks are specially designed for switching capacitive loads. They have additional contacts that close a little earlier than the main ones and direct the capacitor current into the network through current-limiting resistors. As soon as the potentials in the network and on the capacitor become equal, the main contacts close, and the contactor continues to work in normal mode. This scheme of operation of the capacitor contactor can significantly limit the switching surges of current, which has a positive effect on the reliability and durability of all components of the capacitor bank, and also reduces the distortion level in the power grid.
